Monthly Wrap-up: January

February 04, 2021

Hey everyone! Yes, I know, it's been a while—but I have a long list of books to add to your to-be-read pile, and a couple of life updates! Feel free to discuss any of these books with me in the chat—I love book talk!

What I read:

The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare: The first-ever instalment in the Shadowhunter chronicles—this revolves around the life of Tessa Gray, as she fights through the streets of Edwardian London, and through the magic of a certain evil villain—all while the protagonists are caught up in a love triangle. The finale in the book—Clockwork Angel, is my favourite book of the month!

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare: The first in the latest instalment of the Shadowhunter Chronicles—this tells the tale of Cordelia Carstairs, as she deals with unrequited love, and a greater demon—soon to end them all.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare: Set in 2012, Emma Carstairs, a seventeen-year-old Shadowhunter journeys through forbidden love, and an evil warlock who pretended to be their allies.

Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger: Sophie Foster discovers a whole new world of elven creatures—that she'd been a part of ever since she was born. Discovering her various magical abilities, Sophie journeys through mystical lands to find her true heritage and what she was meant to do.

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle: Meg Murry's father has been experimenting with the fifth dimension of time-travel, when he gets stuck on a new planet. Meg, her friend and her brother—assisted by three strange shape-shifters, sojourn through different planets to save her father from a dystopian world

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare: In the last and final book in the Mortal Instruments series, Clary must destroy her brother and his Dark army once and for all. With the help of her friends, they journey into the demon realms and lose love, hope and friends on the way.

Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare: Simon Lewis is training to be an Ascended Shadowhunter in these 10 novellas. But ever since he lost his  memory, he can't seem to even remember who his friends were. In the Shadowhunter Academy, he makes more friends, and he even goes through with his parabatai ceremony—the only question is, will he survive Ascension?

What I read in January

What I want to read this month:

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare: The sequel to Lady Midnight—a part of the Dark Artifices series

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare: The stunning finale to the Dark Artifices series

Exile by Shannon Messenger: The second in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series—will Sophie Foster find out what she is meant to do in this world?

Throne of Glass series by Sarah. J. Maas: This has been on my TBR since last year! Sixteen-year-old Celaena Sardothien is an Assassin in the kingdom of Adarlan, ruled by a tyrannical ruler. Will the kingdom finally get what it's deserved?

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah. J. Maas: Firstly, the last instalment in this series is coming out (drumroll, please) this February, the sixteenth! Another one on the top of my to-read list, this one revolves around the world of fae, or faeries!

And the to-be-read!

Random Life Updates:

Blogging: If you all know, I have another lifestyle blog @Pretty Little Scribbles, where I'm finding it increasingly difficult to come up with new, original content, that people will find interesting to read. Ideas are always welcome!!

Writing: SO I started writing this novel (let's hope it won't end up in a pile of half-written work like my other endeavours,) and I'm pretty interested in the plot. It's about this sort of new race of people, who live in this kingdom—and the protagonist finds out that it's becoming a dystopia because of its megalomaniacal ruler, and they raise a revolt to stop him. I'm still working on the plotline, but do comment below  as to whether you have any ideas

Exams: Yes, my exams are finally, finally over—though I have my finals coming up in March! Hopefully I'll be a little more consistent in blogging—that is something I really don't want to give up, not right now.
